Blue Bloods may be known as one of the longest-running police procedurals in television history, but at the heart of the former CBS cop drama was family.

Every episode of the fan-favorite series, which concluded after 14 seasons in December 2024, features the extended Reagan family — led by Tom Selleck’s character, NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan — sitting down together for a Sunday dinner. The iconic scenes became a staple of the show and served as a way for the characters to check in with their loved ones after another dangerous week on the job.

“There’s a genuine affection when we get together for dinner scenes,” Donnie Wahlberg, who played Det. Danny Reagan, told PEOPLE in May 2024 about the show’s signature scenes. “If anyone’s struggling, by the end of that dinner scene, they’re back to being aware of how fortunate we all are.”

Off-camera, many Blue Bloods cast members were supported similarly by those closest to them, particularly their significant others.

From decades-long marriages to recent flings, here’s everything to know about the real-life partners of the Blue Bloods cast.

  1. Tom Selleck and Jillie Mack

Tom Selleck, who played New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan for 14 seasons on Blue Bloods, has been married to his wife Jillie Mack for nearly four decades.

The couple first met in the early 1980s, when Selleck was playing the leading man in another hit TV show: the ’80s sitcom Magnum, P.I. In 1983, he spent time in London filming the movie Lassiter — and it was there that he crossed paths with Mack, who was starring as Rumpleteazer in the West End production of Cats.

“They had dinner one night and it went on from there,” Mack’s agent told PEOPLE.

On Aug. 7, 1987, Selleck and Mack secretly wed in Lake Tahoe, Nev. — even using fake names to help fool the media. It was Selleck’s second marriage, as the actor had previously been married to actress Jacqueline Ray from 1971 to 1982. Shortly after Selleck and Mack’s wedding, the actor quit Magnum, P.I., stepping away from the spotlight to start a family and live a quieter life on their ranch in Ventura, Calif.

While Selleck eventually returned to acting — appearing on television series including Friends and Las Vegas prior to Blue Bloods — his top priorities have always been his privacy and his family, which includes Mack and their daughter Hannah, who was born in December 1988.

“I’ve always treasured the balance between work and time with my family,” Selleck told PEOPLE in 2020. “It’s always about them.”

2. Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy

Donnie Wahlberg, who portrayed NYPD Detective Danny Reagan on Blue Bloods, has been married to actress and TV host Jenny McCarthy for over 10 years.

The couple began dating in July 2013 and were married on Aug. 31, 2014, in St. Charles, Ill. Their wedding was featured on their A&E reality show, Donnie Loves Jenny, which aired for three seasons.

Wahlberg, who is set to star in his own Blue Bloods spinoff, and McCarthy have both been married before and have children from their previous relationships. (Wahlberg was married to Kimberly Fey from 1999 to 2008, while McCarthy and John Mallory Asher were married from 1998 to 2005.) The blended family lives in a five-bedroom Tudor in St. Charles, outside of Chicago.

McCarthy shared with PEOPLE in March 2025 that she feels “very lucky” for her relationship with Wahlberg. She opened up about the key to their successful marriage.

“We continue to date each other, because I think we get really complacent and it can become a brother and sister relationship real quick, unless you do the work,” she explained.

3, Bridget Moynahan and Andrew Frankel

Bridget Moynahan played ADA Erin Reagan on Blue Bloods, a divorced, single mother who winds up finding love again in the series finale.

In real life, Moynahan dated former NFL quarterback Tom Brady for three years and they welcomed their son Jack in August 2007, shortly after splitting.

The actress eventually found love again with her husband Andrew Frankel, whom she married in the Hamptons on Oct. 17, 2015.

Moynahan and Frankel — a New York City businessman and a father of three sons — were first introduced by mutual friends. The couple primarily keep their relationship private, save for the occasional sweet tidbit shared by Moynahan, such as the romantic card Frankel gave her for their eighth wedding anniversary.

Moynahan also opened up about their relationship — and finding love in her 40s — in an October 2021 interview with Glamour.

“I met a really solid, good human being with none of the pretension or all that other litter,” she said. “He’s a really good person and a good partner. I don’t think as a younger person I understood what that meant when it pertains to real-life situations.”
