What will happen in Virgin River Season 8?
At the end of Season 7, Mel escorted her newborn son to the NICU and was able to say the words she’s been wanting to say for years, “I’m his mother. Breckenridge, who plays Mel in the series, has been waiting for Season 8’s storyline for a long time. “I am excited to see Mel as a mother,” she tells Netflix’s Tudum. “I think we’ve anticipated that moment for far too long. It should be sweet. I’m sure it’ll be harder than she thinks it’s going to be.” Season 8 will focus on the challenges of raising a child with special needs and the strain it puts on parents and their marriage.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Deadline that Season 8 will also focus on Denny “going through the application process and interviews” for medical school. Smith also said Muriel (Teryl Rothery) will enter a new romance with someone “who might be a little close to Mel,” confirming that it’s Everett (John Allen Nelson)!
Smith also said the upcoming season will find Jack working on getting the farm running as well as further exploring themes of sacrifice, rebirth, and feeling haunted by the past.
