We’re finally seeing the new Assistant Director in Charge for FBI as he makes his debut in a thrilling case! But will he be an ally or enemy for the team?

The Assistant Director in Charge is usually an office bureaucrat who rarely goes into the field. The series has had a couple of them popping up over the years, with season 3 introducing Reynolds (Ben Shenkman) who later returned in season 5.

In season 7, Reynolds was a bigger player when the team faced Forefront, an anti-government team that had infiltrated the FBI. Reynolds suspected Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) was involved with Jubal suspecting Reynolds was a Forefront mole, given his own behavior.

As it turned out, Reynolds was innocent and among several agents killed by a Forefront bombing. The team was able to clean house, including proving Reynolds’ own aide was part of Forefront. Since then, the ADIC position has been filled with placeholders, and season 8 saw Jubal wanting the job but missing out. Isoebl (Alana de la Garza) was offered the job but turned it down, not wanting to compromise her ethics to play politics.

Now, at last, we will meet the new ADIC and a question of how Curtiss Cook will shake up the show!

FBI is finally introducing its new ADIC

The April 27 episode, “Fidelity,” will introduce Curtiss Cook as Lawrence Green, who takes an interest in a case involving the robbery of an FBI evidence locker. TV Insider offered a peek, including the official synopsis.

“When an FBI evidence locker is robbed, leaving behind a dead ERT agent, the team discovers a vigilante duo looking to take down a high-scale pedophile ring. Meanwhile, Isobel meets the new Assistant Director in Charge (Curtiss Cook).”

Cook is a familiar face to TV viewers, having played Terry Womack on Netflix’s House of Cards and Otis on The Chi. He’s appeared in numerous TV shows, including several Law & Order series, Mayans M.C., Manifest, and Chicago Med. His authoritative voice and mannerisms lend well to playing an FBI chief.

It’s up in the air now whether Green will be an ally or a hindrance for the team. Isobel may not regret giving up the ADIC job, yet she won’t put up with another obstructive bureaucrat. On the other hand, perhaps Green respects Isobel and Jubal and is willing to give the team a bit more leeway than Reynolds did to get the job done. Either way, Cook should make the role more notable than a typical cameo appearance.

We’ll have to see how it unfolds as FBI fans likely hope the new ADIC meets a better fate than the old one did.
