Episode 9 of Virgin River season 7 starts with Mel and Jack arriving in Mexico for their honeymoon. As they wait for their room to be ready, they go for a swim in the sea and head in for a more leisurely swim in the private pool of their suite.

Mel is surprised that Jack speaks Spanish.

They get a call from Brie informing them that their dishwasher has a leak. Jack asks her to have Clay fix it. They talk a bit about her situation with Brady. The conversation turns to Charmaine, and we learn that Grant will take a plea deal.

In the meantime, Lizzie helps Denny study for his test. She decided to take her meds and is doing better. Hope and Tommy interrupt and share that the planning for the Founder party is going well.

However, Vernon feels Roland is using the opportunity to try to get back with Hope. She assures Vernon that there is nothing to worry about and confronts Roland later.

At the bar, Preacher shares some fancy new ideas for his new restaurant. The sewing crew ladies ask Kaia to help them run the candle-making booth.

Back in Mexico, Mel and Jack plan what to do the next day. Jack insists on discovering new places and going on adventures. Mel promises to surprise him and plans a trip to the ruins. They end up getting lost and spending the day with a loving couple.

Elena and Matteo also had a hard time expanding their family, and they encourage Mel and Jack not to lose hope.

Back in Virgin River, Vernon learns from Shirley that Oliver has opened a mobile clinic in town. A few people are already switching their medical care, including Shirley. Upon hearing this, Vernon calls Hope, and they confront Oliver together.

In the meantime, Brady drops by Kaia’s place and asks for her recommendation, as he is keen to join Calfire full-time. She worries that he is running away because of his feelings for Brie.

At the ranch, Clay offers to help Brie figure out whether she wants to move forward with Brady or not. He invites her to go horse riding, but she postpones it to the next day.

Elsewhere, Mike asks Victoria to stay in town for a little longer and invites her to the Founder’s Day event. At the bar, Vernon complains to Preacher about how the town doesn’t necessarily need more fancy things.

Oliver arrives to get his meal, and Vernon confronts him again. Oliver reveals that his dad was let down by a rural doctor back home. The misdiagnosis led to Oliver’s father’s death. He asks Vernon to stop fighting him.

He asks him to reconsider working together and challenges him to come up with a worthwhile proposal.

The following morning, Matteo and Ellen direct Mel and Jack to a secret cenote. Back at home, Brie goes horseback riding with Clay, and she realises she trusts Brady. She finds him at his new motorcycle shop, and they end up making love.

Lizzie prepares two small cakes to celebrate Denny’s completion of his test. They are finally in a better place, and so are Kaia and Preacher. She encourages him to follow his dream and open a fancy restaurant if that is what he wants.

The episode ends with Mel and Jack getting a call from Marley as they wrap up their vacation.
