Montana’s mountains provide the awesome backdrop to Taylor Sheridan’s series starring Michelle Pfieffer as the lead.
The man who gave us Yellowstone is back with The Madison, another epic series for Paramount+, set against Montana’s big blue skies – and this time Taylor Sheridan has signed up Hollywood legends Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell to play the leads.
The series starts by setting up the two worlds in the series, with matriarch Stacy Clyburn (Michelle Pfeiffer) in New York City and her husband Preston (Kurst Russell) in Montana on a fishing trip. They are a loving husband and wife and have two grown-up daughters Abigail (Beau Garrett) and Paige (Elle Chapman), but all the family have a mix of complicated personal and intertwining relationships that make the six-part series all the more compelling.
‘There are so many reasons why you should watch The Madison,’ says Michelle, 67. ‘It’s very moving, it’s funny, it has an extraordinary cast. I really think that people are going to fall in love with every single one of these characters.’
Michelle Pfeiffer is best known for her award-winning performances in films like Scarface (1983), Batman Returns (1992) and Hairspray (2007). More recently we saw her in Prime Video’s hit Christmas 2025 film Oh. What. Fun and she’s set to star in upcoming Apple TV+ adaptation of Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
Preston Clyburn (Kurt Russell) is a devoted husband, successful New York business man turned free-spirited by retirement. At the weekends Preston is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys nothing better than fly fishing in Montana’s clear rivers with his brother Paul (Matthew Fox) and living a simple and stripped back life rather than the chaos of New York City.

Kurt Russell is best known for films like The Thing (1982), Big Trouble In Little China (1986 ) and The Hateful Eight (2015) and is widely regarded as being one of Hollywood’s most versatile leading men, effortlessly moving genre from horror to Westerns and comedies throughout his lengthy and acclaimed career. Kurt is also well known for his marriage to legendary star Goldie Hawn (Private Benjamin, First Wives Club).
Fun fact! Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer worked together on Tequila Sunrise (1988) and The Madison sees them reunited decades later.Russell (Patrick J. Adams) is the husband of the Clyburn’s youngest daughter Paige (Elle Chapman) and is a wealthy investment banker in New York City. In the opening episode Stacy (Michelle Pfeiffer) regards him as boring and somewhat unmanly, although he seems a good match for her pampered and entitled daughter, Paige.
‘I loved working with Michelle,’ says Patrick. ‘This is a person who’s delivered some of the greatest performances of all time, and she dismantles that immediately. She makes you feel like you are a part of it. She’s not only a profound actor, obviously, but just a great leader. She’s somebody we can all really rally behind and she forces you to show up to work and bring your A game, bring every part of yourself to work, because that’s what she does every day.’
Patrick J. Adams is best known for his long-running role in Suits (2011- 2019) and for being in Cold Case, Pretty Little Liars – which also starred his now-wife Trojan Bellisario, Jack & Bobby, Lost, Friday Night Lights, Without a Trace, Commander in Chief, Heartland, Ghost Whisperer, NCIS, Cupid, Luck, Raising the Bar, Legends of Tomorrow, Lie to Me, and for his recent appearances in The Bombing Of Pan Am 103 and Wayward (2025).Abigail Reese (Beau Garrett) is the eldest daughter of the Clyburns and has two daughters herself from a previous marriage that didn’t work out. She’s resilient and sardonic, has a complicated past but has potential to find a love match in Montana.
The Madison is available to watch on Paramount+ from Saturday 14 March 2026.
Cecile thoroughly enjoyed attending the European premiere for The Madison in Leicester Square along with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell. While she cannot confirm exactly how much Bollinger she sipped celebrating the launch, she can attest to The Madison being another triumph from the pen and mind of the great Taylor Sheridan
