Rounding Up and Rounding Out the ‘Marshals’ Cast & Characters

It’s no surprise that the series finale of Yellowstone didn’t mean the end of Taylor Sheridan’s universe and characters. Marshals is the first Yellowstone spin-off that takes place after the finale, however, so here’s what you need to know about whose story its going to tell.

What’s fun about this series is that, while set in the same universe as the family dramas we know and love–Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923–it is a different genre. Marshals is a police procedural. It follows a task force whose job is to protect Montana from outside attacks. There’s kind of nobody better for that job than a Dutton family member, who we must assume is basically local royalty. At least, from a certain point of view.

Luke Grimes plays Kayce Dutton

You know former Navy SEAL Kayce from Yellowstone. He is the eldest son of the dynastic Dutton family in the anchor series. In this new show, Kayce takes a new gig as, you guessed it, a U.S. Marshal in his local Montana. Before he got on the ranch, Grimes played Elliott in the Fifty Shades movies. He cut his Western chops on Antoine Fuqua’s remake of The Magnificent Seven and the Clint Eastwood (ergo, Western adjacent) film American Sniper. He played a vampire named James on six episodes of True Blood. He was also a series regular on another big family show, Brothers and Sisters, as Ryan Lafferty.

Logan Marshall-Green plays Pete Calvin

Pete is a member of Kayce’s team. Marshall-Green is best known for playing Richard Heller on 24 and Trey Atwood on The OC. He was on nine episodes of And Just Like That… as Adam, a gardener in the city. His films include horror movies like The Invitation, Prometheus, and Upgrade. He was also in the Beatles musical Across the Universe.

Arielle Kebbel plays Belle Skinner

Belle is a member of Kayce’s team. Maybe you know her from sleepover classics Aquamarine and John Tucker Must Die. Maybe she spooked you in The Grudge 2. As for television, Kebbel recurred as Lucy on 9-1-1, Tracy on Ballers, and as Dean’s wife Lindsey on Gilmore Girls. She also got supernatural on shows like The Vampire Diaries, True Blood briefly, and as a lead on Midnight Texas.

Ash Santos plays Andrea Cruz

Andrea is a member of Kayce’s team. You may know Santos from shows like Pulse, Mayor of Kingstown, or American Horror Story: Apocalypse. She’s also been in a lot of made-for-television Christmas movies, including I’m Not Ready for Christmas and Our Little Secret.

Tatanka Means plays Miles Kittle

Miles is a member of Kayce’s team. A working actor since the mid-’00s, Means’ film and television credits include Killers of the Flower Moon, Reservation Dogs, The Son, Saints & Strangers, Banshee, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and Horizon: An American Saga.

Brecken Merrill plays Tate Dutton

Tate is Kayce’s teenage son. He was the heir to Yellowstone Ranch. Merill has essentially grown up on Yellowstone. He also appeared in a couple episodes of This is Us.

Mo Brings Plenty plays

Mo is Kayce’s friend and confidante you know from Yellowstone as well. He was the personal bodyguard and driver for Chief Rainwater, below. You’ve seen the musician and actor in Hell on Wheels and Jurassic World: Dominion. He also did stunt work on The Revenant.

Gil Birmingham plays Thomas Rainwater

Also from Yellowstone, Thomas is the Chief of the Broken Rock Indian Reservation. At the end of the series, he has achieved his goal of purchasing Yellowstone Ranch at a “symbolic price” and reclaiming the land for his people. Besides Yellowstone, you’ve seen Birmingham as Billy in the Twilight saga as well as on shows like The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Under the Banner of Heaven, and Animal Kingdom. Other film credits include Hell or High Water and Wind River.
